A number of years ago I was asked to photograph a very special wedding for a couple whose relationship was a long time coming. (You can read that Blog Post Here). Then, in January of this year, I was contacted by Cecile, the mother-of-the-bride from that previous wedding, and she had a secret.
Being engaged for over a decade, when family asked him when they would get married, Donald would always answer “In 2020”. Then 2020 arrived, and they asked him what day he was going to get married, he jokingly answered “on Leap Day”. He didn’t realize that Leap Day was on a Saturday this year.
So without telling anyone except their witnesses, Cecile planned her secret elopement at the Tait House in Shediac. In was simple and with no fuss, but entirely genuine, sweet, and joyful. I was honoured to be their to bear witness to their long-awaited union. But my journey with this family doesn’t end there……more to come this summer!
